John Newton, Open Source Convert

John Newton was one of the founders of Documentum and, as a result,one of the inventors of what we now call “content management.”Whether you like that term, or not, the idea of specialized databasesthat keep track of things like documents, Web sites, photographs, andso on has had a huge impact on our world.

Now John is the CTO of Alfresco, an open source company building opensource tools for managing content. John wasn’t always an open sourceadvocate, but now believe it’s the right model for creatingenterprise software.
